Descent of Fuente El Haya Canyon (Álava)

In the beautiful Ayala Valley, on the slopes of Mount Ungino, there are a series of ravines that criss-cross each other on their way down and join their waters one with the other, bringing water to the river Hías.

Our Fuente El Haya ravine is fed by the waters of these neighbouring ravines. We must bear in mind that it is a seasonal ravine. It is ideal for descending in spring or after heavy rains, but in summer it is completely dry.

We start with a 25-minute approach along a track along which we go up the river Hías and reach the access road to the Salto ravine, where we start our descent to enter the Fuente El Haya ravine.

The activity starts with two beautiful abseils of 10 and 12 metres and an area with a couple of ledges until we reach a new confluence which is the Somo ravine, this brings water to our descent. In this second area we have a 10 metre abseil and a couple of short slides, arriving at the waterfall of the Pasada Mala ravine, a new contribution of water to our Fuente el Haya ravine. The last area leaves us in the last narrow and channelled 25-metre abseil where the water takes on a helical shape (the most beautiful waterfall in Alava) that will leave us with a good feeling in a pool that is always flooded, the place where the canyoning activity ends.

After a 10 minute walk we will return to our vehicles by a small PR that will take us back to the starting point of the activity.
