It is an ideal canyon for perfecting canyoning techniques.
Level: III–Advanced.
Adventure Sports: Canyoning
To descend the Lizebar ravine, we will go to the municipality of Ultzurrun, Navarre. Specifically to the source or spring of the village. The Arteta spring is located in the Valle de Oro valley and is one of the natural outlets of the aquifer in the interior of the Sierra de Andia and a popular spot for hikers on different routes in the area.
It is a limestone plateau at an average altitude of around 1,000 metres with abundant water outlets and typical forms of karstic relief such as dolines, chasms and lapiaces. The Artazul and Lizebar ravines are located in this enclave.
We will drive our vehicles to the village of Goñi where, once we have parked our cars, we will get changed and equipped with the specific material for the activity to go into a forest following the river bed that will take us to the beginning of the ravine.
We will face a technical descent in which we will have to negotiate 9 rappels of between 5 and 30 metres in height, with the option of joining two of the rappels and descending a drop of 65 metres in height in a single rappel, the longest we offer at Inguru Abentura.
The Lizebar ravine runs through a very aesthetic and well-defined karst area. It is an ideal canyon to do at the beginning of the season because this is the time when there is water in the canyon. If it is approached as a dry canyon, you can descend all year round and take advantage of the opportunity to train manoeuvres or learn new descent techniques. Also, we will be able to warn you when it becomes active thanks to the rains that have fallen in the area.
Go for it!
