Hiking in the Gorbea Natural Park (Álava)
From the heart of the Basque Country.
The Basque Country is known for its great tradition of mountaineering throughout history, and generation after generation has continued with its love of hiking and the mountains. There are hundreds of spectacular routes in a magical setting between the sea and the mountains that can be done in a single day.
We will take you through the most unique landscapes of our land, enjoying our beech forests, rivers or the most spectacular panoramic views, all accompanied by a dose of culture, enlivening the route with explanations about the place, its fauna, flora or traditions of the area.
With Inguru Abentura we will discover the best kept secrets of the Natural Parks of Aizkorri, Aralar, Urbasa, Urkiola, Gorbea, Izki, Valderejo… and a lot of unique natural environments that have little to envy to higher mountains.
If you know of a route or want to do an ascent for which you need the experience and help of a guide, do not hesitate to contact us and we will carry it out.
We have a great team of professional guides, Level 2 Mountain Sports Technician (international qualification UIMLA), who will lead us through a suitable terrain and make sure it is an unforgettable experience.
Don’t think twice and come and walk through the heart of the Basque mountains with Inguru Abentura!
The guides of Inguru Abentura have it clear, the most beautiful route you can find is in the heart of the Basque Country, in the Natural Park of Urkiola, also known as the small Basque Alps.
If you are looking for a route with greater technical and physical difficulty, the circular route through the Gorbea Natural Park is the best option.
Do you know of a route and need the company of a specialised technical person? Don’t hesitate to suggest new places.
Anyone is suitable for an activity such as hiking. There are short, low-difficulty routes for beginners in the Sierra de Entzia and other longer routes such as those in the Urbasa Natural Park.
We should always be aware of our physical capabilities and if we are not used to doing sport we should start with something simple.
We really enjoy the company of the little ones but we have to be aware of their limitations and they must always be accompanied by an adult or have permission to do the activity. We can change the activity to a simple family trail.
Wear comfortable clothes according to the season and hiking shoes. Bring a small backpack with something to eat such as some nuts or fruit and a litre and a half of water per person. Depending on the season, you will need sun cream and sunglasses, a hat or gloves.
