Marko Cave (Biscay)
An initiation cave in a privileged natural landscape.
Speleology is the science that studies underground cavities, their origin and formation of caves, as well as their fauna and flora.
Nowadays, the sport is very common, and more and more intrepid and curious people are entering the caves in search of new experiences and adventures in a unique, natural, magical and unknown environment.
If you are curious to know what these caves hide, what secrets these dark places full of legends about mythological beings harbour… you have the soul of a speleologist!
We will show you first-hand the best kept secrets of our caves, everything you need to know about their mysterious environment, their different rock and limestone formations, how and why their galleries are formed…
With Inguru Abentura you will have a technical team of highly qualified guides with extensive experience who will guide you through the most spectacular underground caves in the Basque Country. A complete activity full of adventures in which you will have to overcome small climbs, handrails, crawlways… and everything we find on our way.
If you dare to discover new worlds without having to take a plane… this is the activity you need! Choose the underground adventure you like the most and dare to discover a world as dark… as magical!
At Inguru Abentura we offer a wide variety of caves where no experience is necessary and others where the level is more advanced. If you are a beginner in this discipline we recommend the Marko Cave, but if it is not your first time and you want to get muddy, the Lamiak or Mairu Caves are the best option. Shall we go into the Jentilzubi Cave with ropes and harnesses? Mythology and sporting activity.
We believe that anyone is suitable for an activity such as caving. However, we recommend that you are not claustrophobic, as in many caves you will have to crawl and crawl through narrow passages in search of new rooms to discover.
It all depends on the cave chosen. The minimum age we recommend is from 8 to 14 years old, but there are several factors to take into account. For example, they must always be accompanied by an adult or have permission to do the activity. We can change the activity to a simple and more familiar cave such as the Cueva de Iguaran.
Wear comfortable clothes (long trousers are always better) and hiking shoes that can get dirty. A small lunch (fruit, sandwich, nuts…) and a litre and a half of water per person. Depending on the season, sun cream and sunglasses, hat, gloves…
