Kilian Jornet and Michele Boscacci decided to finish the race together, but the judge didn’t accept it.
Kilian Jornet, has won many victories in his sporting life. With more or less relevant, but perhaps the least liked him has achieved this weekend when he won the Valtellina Orobie, 2nd test World Cup Ski Mountain.
On the last lap of the race, the lack of snow made the skiers will face the last descent on skis in tow. The ice was very dangerous descent, so the two skiers who shared the leadership agreed to get together.

To not jeopardize their integrity, both as Michele Boscacci Kilian Jornet decided they would get together at the finish line, sharing victory in the points race and the World Cup. But the joy did not last long for Kilian Jornet and Michele Boscacci as the GPS chip electronic record of all participants in the race and take the photo finish gave as winner Kilian by just a few hundredths of a second.
The decision did not like the Catalan athlete:
“Very very disapointed with the decision of the ISMF World Cup Ski Mountaineering direction of the podium results yesterday. It was with surprise that I saw that I was alone on the 1st position, and Michele Boscacci 2nd. We both finish together hand by hand.
After a long technical race very disputed we arrived together on the last section, a steep downhill by foot on an icy-grassy terrain. We decided to finish together, because we thought that a running sprint on a downhill on these conditions could be really dangerous and we wanted to put on front the safety of ourselves than the fight for the victory. If the finish would gives us the opportunity to fight until last moment in safety conditions we would not finish hand by hand, but on this conditions the risk was too high. We finish hand by hand showing the will of a ex-aequo, but the judges count the second millesimes on the chip time.
We, as athletes , believe on the fair play and on the ski mountaineering values, but not the ISMF. Very sad of that direction sport is taking.”
